PSHE

PSHE and citizenship is taught in reception classes as well as in Nursery. We relate the Healthy School and citizenship aspects of the children’s work to the objectives set out in the Early Learning Goals (ELGs). For Nursery children, we aim to develop their emotional, personal and social skills so that they become fully integrated citizens mainly through games and Circle time activities.

Healthy School is taught through a mindful approach using the Jigsaw Scheme, in both Key stages 1 and 2. This comprehensive scheme of learning for PSHE includes emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development. These skills enable children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We encourage our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school and the wider community. In so doing we help develop their sense of self-worth.
