Railway Fields and Pulford Road

Railway Fields and Pulford Road

Railway Fields and Pulford Road Starling Class visited Railway Fields in Harringay to learn about the plants and animals that are in our local environment. We also visited Pulford Road to see which wild plants were there.  We noticed that there were many dandelions there and lots of bindweed.  When we compared this to Railway Fields, there were hardly any dandelions there but a lot of bindweed! The Gruffalo is Here!

The Gruffalo is Here!

The Gruffalo is Here! Starling Class were fortunate enough to have a special visit from The Gruffalo!  We called The Gruffalo because we were trying to use more interesting adjectives to describe her. We were all shocked when she said that she was free to visit us that very morning!  Some children in Starling Class were scared by her “terrible claws” but they were brave enough to show The Gruffalo their work. This slideshow requires JavaScript. We really enjoyed The Gruffalo’s visit and hope that she will be proud...

Eco – Day

Eco – Day

Eco  Day We all enjoyed thinking about ways to help the planet during Eco-Day on Friday 13th October. We thought about the power that is used to run some of our objects in class.  Then we discussed ways of saving some of this power.  This made us think about ways of saving energy when we are at home.  We showed our ideas by making colourful posters. We realised that by reusing the objects we throw away, we can help to save energy and have fun!  So we made imaginative and creative objects using cardboard from our recycling bin. This...

Still Life

Still Life

Still Life William Morris and Van Gogh inspired us to create beautiful still life and observational works of art. Still life pictures are pictures of inanimate objects such as fruit, flowers, food and everyday items. We had to look very carefully at the plants and use magnifying glasses to help us to draw what we could see. We also created repeated prints of parts of plants.  Visit our classroom to see more of our work. This slideshow requires...

Many people were already living on these islands before Columbus arrived. Would you like to be an...

World Book Day – Hooray!

World Book Day – Hooray! Starling Class celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as characters from our favourite stories.   We also read the story of Little Red Riding Hood.  We thought about what made the story a traditional one.  then we pretended to be characters from the story and used powerful adjectives to describe the way the characters looked and how they felt.
