Using maps to explore! Our topic for this half term is Mapping the World! On the 29th of November, we were lucky enough to have a map expert come to school and show us some fold-out paper maps of Scotland. We learnt about how to recognize all the various symbols on maps and learnt about ‘scale’. Then we were taken outside and shown how to find our bearings using compasses, and we each got to use one! Interesting RE Day!

Interesting RE Day! We spent RE Day reflecting on why religious books and teachings are important to us. We discussed parables, looked up famous places of worship in Christianity and Islam around the world, enjoyed writing our own parable and then examined how famous artists have used painting to convey religious messages!

The Queen’s New Clothes!

The Queen’s New Clothes! We had a really fun end to Art Week this half-term! We are studying The Tudors, so we made Queen Elizabeth I some lovely new dresses using various Mathematical shapes like triangles and semi-circles! The Queen used to have precious stones and pearls on her clothes so we decorated ours with some lovely, shiny beads. The finished product!

Science with Conkers We had never played with conkers before so we decided, as a class, to collect as many as we could find and bring them into school. Mr Pepperday helped us bore holes into them and we strung them up, ready for a game in the playground! It was our Science lesson and we got a chance to have a go at playing conkers while also observing what forces acted on them during our game!
